Date Night: January 2012

Last year was CRAZY for Mr. Zoom and I. Big Zoom turned 1 in April, and Little Zoom was born in August. Yes, that means they are 16 months apart. Yes, I have my hands full. No, it was NOT a total surprise. Are we going to try for “that little girl”? NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. Now that we have the questions I get asked weekly out of the way….

For Christmas I decided that I’d give Mr. Zoom a full year of pre-planned, pre-paid, pre-reserved dates after seeing this brilliant idea on Pinterest. We always attempt to plan a date, but if it hasn’t been fully thought through by Friday, we typically end up snuggling up on the couch and falling asleep early most weekends. In an effort to get out of the house and actually have some special time together, I really felt like organizing the dates in advance would be ideal.

I put together 12 sealed envelopes with all the information for each date inside and wrapped them in a box to put under the Christmas tree. He will open each envelope on the 1st day of the corresponding month.  I think Mr. Zoom was excited, and we just had our January date this past weekend. We tried a new mexican place in town and then strolled an outdoor mall with the world’s best ice cream.  Even though we were home by 9:00, it felt so refreshing to get out of the house by ourselves!

Mr. Zoom opened the February envelope this morning and I can’t wait for the sweet date we have planned this month!
